5pm Pre-Concert Talk - THE HARMONIUM
Jonathan Scott gives an illustrated talk on the history,
development and repertoire of the harmonium (joined by Tom Scott on piano).
This event will give a rare insight into the wonderful sound which provided the
inspiration for great composers including Berlioz, Saint-Saens, Strauss, Liszt and Rossini.
The instrument being used tonight is one of the finest in the world -
An original Mustel harmonium built in Paris in 1880 from the Victorian reed organ Museum, Saltaire.
